6.6 Develop Schedule

Process Definition
The process of developing a project schedule is the logical flow of events which lead to accomplishing objectives and meeting stakeholder expectations. By analyzing requirements, resources, and constants, the duration of tasks can be set. This leads to the creation of the overall project schedule.

Process Assessment
Schedule development is an on going process. Once the schedule baseline is complete you can use it to track overall project progress as work is being completed.  It is important for project team members to track and monitor their assigned activities and to ensure no schedule conflicts arise.

(Inputs) Network Diagrams
The network diagram will provide the logical flow and relationship of the activities for the purpose of ensuring a correct schedule development and flow. This example is from a group project in PMGT 501 Fundamentals of Project Management, written by Jeremy Curbey, Jay Kinser, and Charles Sutherland.

(Tools & Techniques) Critical Path Method
The critical path method is an invaluable tool the project manager can use to see the amount of scheduling flexibility that exists. This example is from PMGT 613 Assessing and Managing Project Risk.

(Outputs) Project Schedule
The project schedule is a visual depiction of the start and finish timeline of the project. This example is from a group project in PMGT 614 Planning, Directing, and Controlling Projects, written by Jeremy Curbey, Reese Darlington, Braylon Gurnell, Bret Kuhne, and Benjamin Lundy.
