9.4 Manage Project Team

Process Definition
The manage project team is the process of tracking team members’ performance, providing feedback, resolving issues, and managing team changes to optimize project performance. Inputs such as team performance assessment and the work performance reports can be analyzed to see the issues in the project. These issues can be kept in the issue log to document, monitor and resolve them. In addition to the team performance assessment and performance reports, observation and conversation can be benefit to stay in touch with the work and attitudes of project team members.

Process Assessment
The final outcome of the manage project team process is documentation updates, which include, but are not limited to, skill sets for individual team members, issue log, project management plan components, and change requests for staffing.  With a local project, most of the team members share the similarities such as language, culture, traditions, schedule, and language. The goal is still helping the team to build a good working relationship, bringing the expertise to contribute to the project and leading to project success. However, the way to carry this out are different depending on where the project takes place.

Team performance assessments are a great way to determine of the team development efforts are paying off and will give insight on how to proceed with managing the project team. This example is an evaluation of a project team from PMGT 502 Effective Communications for Managing Projects.

(Tools & Techniques) Conflict Management
Conflict management involves finding ways to set expectations and manage conflicts as they arise. One way to do this si to set ground rules for the project team. This example is a team charter from a group in PMGT 611 Anatomy of Project Organizations

(Outputs) Change Request
Change requests are a formal document or procedure to ask for the alteration of a project document. This example is from an assignment in PMGT 614 Planning, Directing, and Controlling Projects.
